86 22re 4runner on diypnp

Post by DNO »

Hello all, I'm not usually one to post in forums but this buildup requires more knowledge than I have so here I am looking for advice.

I already built my MS DIYPNP and got the 22re running in the driveway; first try it started up and idled. The engine had a miss before and after the MS install so I pulled the head off and sent it to Tim at DOA for a fresh valve job and updated porting. It should be back here any day now.

What I want to do now is to use 2 BIP373's to drive a coil pack for a wasted spark configuration. I am thinking about using mitsubishi coils or the Ford 1.9 EDIS coil.

I know this has been done on the 22re, but I'm having trouble finding a simple way to install the trigger wheel and sensor bracket. I am trying to figure out which is the best way to do this. I have a v/r sensor from a 1.9l escort and the trigger wheel from the same motor. The wheel is a smaller diameter than the front 22re pulley so I don't think it will work. My next option is to buy a 6.5" wheel from Diyautotune and adapt it to the front pulley with spacers and long bolts or have a flange welded to the front pulley with locating pins for the wheel and threaded holes to bolt the wheel to.

Any ideas?

Well, I've decided to run VAST for a while but will switch to EDIS in the future. I have it up and running with a PLX M300 wideband and now trying to figure out injector open time and injections per engine cycle.
