Here is a pic of the engine which the megasquirt will hopefully one day run
I decide to convert to megasquirt when I decided to turbocharge my rabbit, after looking at how much it would cost me to keep the CIS mechanical injection system (additional injectors, injector controllers, turbo audi warm up regulator, etc) it quickly dawned on me that even after all that, if I do decide to up the boost one day, I will have to recognize the limits of the original injection system.
Luckily for me, my girlfriend took the easy way out and asked me what I wanted for christmas and my last b-day, needless to say, she got me the megasquirt kit/stimulator from glensgarage, and the fuel rail from RMR
Building it didn't really cause me much stress, since I work as a AutoElectrian (car alarms, starters, stereo, etc.) the only glitch I encountered building it, was a defective TPS pot on the stim. (it stayed fully pegged on the megatune) but after swapping in a new one, testing with the stim and laptop was flawless.
Last week I finally finished soldering the main plug in the car, but since I still didn't have my tps and sensors, I was limited to testing if the megasquirt powered up and the fuel pump output was ok.
finally got my tps

Finally got around getting o-rings for my g60 injectors, tightened everything, powered up the fuel pump with a jumper, checked for leaks, 30psi/ Ok
ajusted the Fpr to 40 psi/ slight weeping at the A/N fitting, re-tightened fitting/ re-tested, Ok
ran fuel system for 10 minutes straight no futher leaks

After a long absence from posting here, too busy trying to get the rabbit finished, semi running, building a new work garage, I've come with pictures!!!
The rabbit was literally finished 20 mins before the gates were closed at the last Carshow of the year (and biggest)SCP7 in montreal, canada. My laptop died 3 days before, hindering the tuning part of the job, I had to stay late a couple of days before the show, with the car hooked up to a Desktop comp that I dragged out of the showroom at work, just to get the car running again, so with a so-so tune, I managed to limp the car to the show, semi-smoking my clutch, since the shifter circlip decided to pop out halfway to the show, limiting me to 2nd gear! anyhow, long story short, we got to the show, spent 3 days there, and the icing on the cake was, when the Trophies were handed out, when the time came for the MK1-II golf category, I was so shocked when they called out my name for First Place!!! Beating out a lot of amazing 1st and 2nd gen golfs. Here are the pics
Thanks again to James (T3bunny) for hooking me up with my new(used) panasonic toughbook, to start tuning the rabbit again.

update time
car has had some hiccups, fuel rail leaked (no fire, just smoke) One of the injectors decided to kick the bucket, running smaller digi II injectors, car's boost is being controlled with a turbosmart dual stage boost controller, daily driving set at 8 psi, and race at 15, pulls strong in both settings, need bigger injectors soon, havent'decide between 32 or 36 lbs/h will be trying a time attack hopefully this weekend,
update

Got my 36 lbs/h injectors today, just waiting for new o-rings, can't wait to drive with these on, the digi II injectors just weren't cutting it, kept up to a CL 55 AMG this weekend, only found out later it was a 5 liter 12 cylinder supercharged 500 f/lbs of torque highway monster, I do recall thinking, "wow, that accelerates fast", as I toggled on the boost controller to switch from 8 psi to 15 psi, the gentleman and his young son (8 yrs old I think) gave me and my brother the thumbs up as we pull up beside them.

on the way to the local racetrack to support 2 co-workers lapping that day, they drive a S2000 and another Rabbit, pictures are here, you even see the bunny in one of the pics taken by the resident photographer

After almost a year of just driving the rabbit with the digi 2 injectors, I finally decided to give the 36lbs ford motorsports injectors another try, so I finally swapped them, disconnected the vacuum line to my adjustable fuel pressure regulator, set the fuel pressure at 43-44 psi, fabricated a restrictor to calm down my lumpy idle ( running a neuspeed cam ) and started with a base map again, It killed me to dump the old ve table from the digi 2 setup, idles great now, also changed from 4 squirts to 2 squirts and my idle pulse width came up a bit, can't wait to get the upper parts dialed in, still running a tad lean on wot, not like the rock solid 12.5 with the old injectors. dyno time is coming up soon, maybe a week or so, my optima battery finally decided to kick the bucket, so I'm waiting on a warranty replacement.
finally dyno tuned it

Finally it went on the dyno, it was strapped to dynapack and 3 hours later and an empty wallet, I'm happy with the results and it feels great on the road, here are the pics
