The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.
Maybe you could help me, I am currently running MS1 with a V3 board and spark invert, dropping the coil with the VB921. How are you running your spark...it looks like you still have your distributor.
My distributor is turned as far as it can go (in the advanced direction) and my timing is still offset from what MS reads to what it actually is with a timing light. Like off by 24 degrees. Actual will be like 18 degrees After TDC and MS reads 6 BTDC.
Did you run into any problems like this???
Also I already am using the bolt location for the distributor that allows the most advance. I have my trigger angle set to 60 degrees.
FYI: I'm running 029t.
I attached my msq

I suppose I could try that but in Megatune it says not to have a trigger angle below 4 degrees and that 24 would bring me to 36.
I think I am going to try and rotate all of the plug wires on the distributor one cylinder over and then retard the distributor a bunch and see if I can get that to work.
Seriously guys I have done several dozen MS installs on VW's. If the engine is timed correctly and the wires are on right, a trigger angle of 62 degrees starts and runs dead on EVERYTIME. If your trigger angle isn't 62, something is goofed up. I almost NEVER have to adjust the timing either on the dizz or in MegaTune. If I have to, the car was incorrectly timed before I started on the MS setup.
LOVE the engine bay and fabrication work on the rocco!
