I added the EDIS stuff, now I'm running MSnEDIS. It's really cool to have detailed timing control, and get rid of that miserable spring and weight mechanism that was always wrong before. My timing is still wrong (probably a little worse at the moment), but at least now I can tweak it and hopefully make it better.

The EDIS8 module (Lincoln 4.6L), coil packs/plug wires (Explorer), and the VR sensor (ABS sensor for Ford Aspire) all came from eBay. Total cost with shipping was around $40USD. For wires, I grabbed a harness from a car at the local wrecker and stripped out individual wires as needed, $5USD.
Crank-triggered timing is great. Timing jitter dropped from ~12degrees to close to zero with the EDIS system.
